Curious: Do you build or purchase your canvas'?

I've heard that one should build their own canvases & was wondering how many other deviants do? I don't, though I have a local that builds quality canvas'.

It's getting pretty expensive, does anybody have any good suggestions for building one's own? I'm dedicated to doing it right, though I have little to dump into the investment.

I'm tempted to try ripping a 2x4 (kiln baked wood) in half @ a 13° angle to create a frame. This would be cheapest, but how do I go about butting the corners? Nails or screws?
